St George's Church Dittisham
is at the heart of village life. The church
community is by and large very much involved in the
day to day running of things and two lay members
lead monthly family/village worship services.
A small but enthusiastic choir lifts the singing for
all the congregation. The village's resident
population of approximately 370 is swelled by
visitors during the summer adding to our numbers.
building is Grade 1 listed with a carved and
decorated Rood Screen, the altar has recently been
re-ordered and new heating and lighting systems
installed. There are plans to look at
improvements to the seating to make the space more
flexible for larger gatherings.
Easter Day, Remembrance Day, Carol and Christmas Day
services are all particularly well attended, a
central part of village life for both regulars and
The Parish Sung Eucharist takes place on the first,
third and fourth Sunday of the month at 9.15am, the
second Sunday is lay-led Village Worship. A
midweek communion is held once a month.
